Climbing & COPE Training

Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) and Climbing Instructors are volunteers who are specially trained to deliver programs involving climbing, rapelling and other high ropes elements. Training for these instructor positions are held in-person at local Scout Camps.

Climbing Instructor Training

Climbing Instructor Training will be held Friday through Sunday, at the Woodruff Scout Camp and offsite at the Rocktown climbing area. Utilizing the cutting-edge climbing and rappelling facilities and natural rock we will virtually exhaust the topic! One day will be spent doing some off-site climbing! Participants must be at least 18 years of age.  Most meals are provided. CPR and Red Cross Standard 1st Aid are required prior to receiving Climbing Instructor Cards. Graduates of this training will be able to supervise unit-climbing activities.

All Level II participants must be approved by the Climbing Chair prior to registration.
